Jalandhar : GNA University becomes North India’s first University to commence AWS Academy in its campus. Under this initiative, GNA University will not only train students on AWS Cloud platform but also prepare them for different AWS Certifications.
AWS is one of the largest players in the market to provide cloud services. Cloud Computing is the delivery of on-demand computing services — from applications to storage and processing power — typically over the internet and on a pay-as-you-go basis. Rather than owning their own computing infrastructure or data centers, companies can rent access to anything from applications to storage from a cloud service provider. The benefit of using cloud computing services is that firms can avoid the upfront cost and complexity of owning and maintaining their own IT infrastructure, and instead simply pay for what they use, when they use it. In turn, providers of cloud computing services can benefit from significant economies of scale by delivering the same services to a wide range of customers.
It has been estimated that India will need about 3 lakhs cloud computing professionals in the coming years. Since it is a new technology and supply of such IT experts is less than the demand in the market, the salary levels of cloud computing experts are high too.
In the first batch of AWS Academy more than 50 students from Computer Science and Engineering will be trained at no cost. Dr. Anurag Sharma, Professor, Faculty of Engineering, Design and Automation has been trained by AWS Academy to train the aspiring students.
Dr. Vikrant Sharma, Dean, FEDA-E congratulated the whole team for this huge achievement. S. Gurdeep Singh Sihra, Pro-Chancellor, GNA University expressed, “Our focus is on skill development of students and to make them self-reliant.” The Pro- Chancellor also applauded the hard endeavours of the department.
